Mosquito-borne diseases represent a rapidly emerging public health crisis throughout tropical Latin America. By combining geographical, ecological, and epidemiological methodologies, I am working to elucidate pathogen-vector-host interactions for mosquito-borne diseases that are affecting coastal cities in Ecuador including dengue virus and Zika virus.
Entomology and Environment
One of my research goals is to study the ecological and anthropogenic factors that affect the transmission of vector-borne diseases. Understanding the biology and environmental requirements of mosquito vectors is a vital component to arbovirus disease management.
Epidemiology and Public Health
Unraveling the complex dynamics of mosquito-borne diseases is a necessary step in developing effective public health recommendations for disease control.
