Vector-borne Diseases and Environment

One of my research goals is to study the ecological and anthropogenic factors that affect the transmission of vector-borne diseases. Understanding the biology and environmental requirements of mosquito vectors is a vital component to arbovirus disease management.

Arboviruses in Coastal Ecuador

Mosquito-borne diseases represent a rapidly emerging public health crisis throughout tropical Latin America. By combining geographical, ecological, and epidemiological methodologies, I am working to elucidate pathogen-vector-host interactions for mosquito-borne diseases that are affecting coastal cities in Ecuador including dengue, chikungunya, and Zika viruses.
